Secretary Nereus Acosta and BFAR Director Atty. Asis G. Perez initiated the organization of the Technical Working Group on the “Containment of Knifefish Infestation in Laguna Lake” during a meeting held at the LLDA in Quezon City initially attended by BFAR and LLDA technical staff. It later involved other agencies that include DTI, DSWD, DOST-PCAARRD, DENR-BMB, TESDA, DILG and 1 Fisherfolk Governing Organization represented by FARMC to become the Inter-agency Technical Working Group on the Containment of Knifefish Infestation in Laguna de bay. 



The inter-agency technical working group was formed to harmonize collaborative efforts for the implementation of projects/strategies on the containment of knifefish in Laguna de Bay and the application of preventive measures for further spread in other inland waters 

The inter-agency TWG was formalized in a Memorandum Agreement signed on June 14, 201 to highlight the National Forum on Knifefish held in Taguig University. The TWG meets every second Tuesday of the month to report the accomplishments and assess emerging related issues.
